Aim of the workshop
The field of safety control on off shore drilling for gas and oil is a new emerging field in Israel.

We are aiming at the development of regulation in accordance with international standards in this field.

The following issues would have to be addressed:
  • legal aspects and viable authorities with regards to application of maritime laws;
  • protection of the environment and the prevention of pollution in accordance with the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution From Ships (MARPOL) and International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation (OPRC);
  • implementation of the Barcelona Convention off shore protocol;
  • safety at sea in accordance to SOLAS as well as Search and Rescue (SAR);
  • authorisation and approval of the exploration and exploitation as well as the structural approval of the platforms;
  • best practices as well as new technologies in the field;
  • integration of maritime and offshore policies between different government offices.
